Partner

Luba has been practicing family law almost exclusively since joining Pavey Law in 2010. As a partner with the firm, she is pleased to head the firm’s Family Law group.

As part of her busy family law practice, Luba assists clients with a wide range of family law issues, including child and spousal support, parenting plans, property division and equalization claims. She frequently represents business owners and professionals, employing the appropriate processes to ensure the early and efficient resolution of her clients’ family law disputes. Luba assists both individual and business owner clients with the negotiation and preparation of Marriage Contracts and Cohabitation Agreements, as well as the preparation of wills and powers of attorney.

Luba prides herself on applying a practical, common-sense approach to the resolution of family disputes, allowing her clients the benefit of timely, cost-efficient and reasonable settlements.

Not all cases have to go to court. In fact, for most couples going through a separation, any outstanding issues can typically be resolved by way of a properly negotiated Separation Agreement. Luba has extensive experience in negotiation, mediation and Collaborative Family Law. This experience allows Luba to work closely with her clients to determine, and employ, the dispute resolution process that is the appropriate fit for them.

Where matters cannot be settled, Luba’s litigation experience allows her to effectively represent clients at all levels of Court. Luba has successfully argued matters at both the Ontario Court of Justice and the Superior Court of Justice including the Family Branch.

Luba was born in Bratislava, Slovakia and immigrated to Canada as a child with her family. As a native Slovak speaker, she is pleased to converse with our Slovak and Czech speaking clientele in the Slovak language if desired.

Outside of the office, Luba keeps busy with her husband and two daughters. Together, they enjoy exploring the outdoors and engaging in activities that are of interest to her two active girls. Luba has a love of long distance running and also enjoys fitting in the occasional game of tennis with her husband.
